Membership Website – How Independent Professionals Create Second Incomes With Coaching Sites

Ever wonder how some successful independent professionals go from doing well to becoming icon’s in their specialty seemingly overnight? Creating a successful membership website for coaching is one way to do it. Members only websites have high profit margins and generate a steady stream of income without requiring a lot of time to maintain. Also, online coaching sites seem to have synergistic relationships with independent professionals, the high expectations and collaborating with peer’s leads to inspiration and motivation that catapults the once successful professional to superstar status.

Here is a summary of the steps it takes to create a profitable membership coaching website:

1. Pick a niche.
Be specific, don’t choose your general profession as a coaching topic narrow it down. For example, my last membership website was created for, “financial planners who wanted to specialize in helping retirees eliminate or significantly reduce their taxes on IRA distributions.” That is a specialty.

2. Research and select a marketing method.
Each method has different time, talent and financial requirements and they render different quality levels of prospects. Personally, my current favorite is article marketing because it generates high quality leads relatively quickly. Do your homework and select one that suits your needs.

3. Create a blueprint.
Write down all of the steps a typical client would have to take to realize their goals, fill in as much detail as possible.

4. Introduce an entry-level product.
a. Use a small piece of content from your blueprint, and create an inexpensive, high value product so people can “try you out”.
b. If you want to save yourself some work create an electronic product like an e-book, audio or video recording that can be downloaded automatically.
c. Use the feedback from your initial product to help direct your focus on your membership website.

5. Put together the members only website.
a. Choose a ready-made script, build your own or outsource it to a professional (Google “membership website templates”).
b. Decide if you are going to make all of the information on your site available at once or spread out the workload by adding a new section on regular time intervals until it is complete.
c. Upload the content from your blueprint.
d. Decide what sections you want to update regularly, and specifically what content you will be providing.
e. Determine if you will offer any supplemental services like webinars, teleseminars, software access, e-mail access to you and/or your assistants and/or small group coaching.
f. Set the price and minimum time commitment each client is required to maintain their membership, if any.
g. Write up promotional material for your prospects.

6. Introduce your membership website to your lead list
Send some e-mail to the list you have been regularly communicating with and tell them about the new benefits you can provide. Give them a sneak peek by providing little pieces of the content so that they can see what it’s all about. Give them a link to get signed up.

7. Celebrate.
The hardest work is over.:-)
