Membership Websites – A Membership Website Can Reduce Your Customer Support Requests

You’ve set up your membership site and your ready for business. Or at least you think you are. You’ve completed your research and you know there is a demand for the content in your membership website. The content you need to get started is in place, you’ve setup and tested your payment processing. You’ve completed and submitted your press release. You’ve advertised in Google and Facebook and you’ve tweeted. People are chomping at the bit for you to officially start offering memberships. All that’s left to do is provide customer support to your paying customers. Whoa. Let’s stop and look at that last one. You want to eliminate as many customer support requests as possible even if you are not interested in offering any type of membership website. Let’s look at this a little closer.

You have one product that has a couple of bonuses. You certainly do not have the content to start a membership site but you would like to stop all of the support requests because your customers cannot find the email with the link to your product or they changed computers or some other reason. Of course the problem exacerbates itself if you have more than one product.

Actually, even if you only have one product, you do have the content for a type of a membership site called a download membership site. Instead of typing to hide your content with a strange URL which may or may not be in a password protected directory, you can setup a membership site where people go to download your content after they make a purchase. The advantage of this is twofold. First, your content is password protected in a membership site. You don’t have to worry about a search engine indexing content that you are selling. Second, you will stop getting support requests. If a member looses their password to your membership site, they simply request a new password at the membership site itself without any involvement on your part. The membership software will take care of resetting their password.

OK, you may be thinking that’s terrific, but I have a fixed term or an traditional ongoing membership site. How can I reduce customer support requests?

You can reduce customer support request by using your membership software email program or integrating the membership software with your autoresponder to send emails to your members.
You should have an email scheduled every time you want your members to do something. If they are in a modular course, you should have an email scheduled to let them know that a new module is available. You should send an email whenever you add new content. Like any business, you want to keep in touch with your customers.

If you want to reduce your customers support request for a membership site, the most important rule is never assume your customers know what they are suppose to do. Scheduled emails will reduce your customer support request immensely giving your more time to work on other aspects of your business.

What Are the Usual Membership Site Mistakes?

If you’ve made a mistake in something, chances are a lot of people have already made the same mistakes before you. But the reason why you made the mistake is because you never heard about it and history repeated itself. I want you to avoid membership site mistakes. I want you to launch a membership site, make it profitable and keep making membership sites forever because membership sites for me are the easiest way to make money.

Here are three very important membership site mistakes for you to avoid right now – pricing too low, not marketing enough, and choosing the wrong niche.

How can you price too low? This idea goes over many people’s heads because pricing too low attracts the wrong customers. It attracts the impulse by customers and the cheapskate customers, not the good ones that you want. Pricing low does not guarantee everyone’s going to buy in your membership site. In fact, many times when I’ve doubled my price, I have increased my sales. Kind of counter intuitive, isn’t it? But it’s true.

Instead of pricing low, price high and market yourself better. Believe in yourself more. Promote yourself more and write a better sales letter to convince people that this higher price is worth much more than their going to pay. They get much more out of the membership site than they put in.

Speaking of marketing, are you getting enough traffic? Do you have new people getting on your list everyday? Are you paying for traffic? If you answered no to any of those questions, then you are not marketing your site enough.

We’ve all fallen into that trap. It’s just so easy to create a new membership site, to make new products instead of marketing the site you already have. But you’re going to get more money for your effort if you market the stuff you already have. Get yourself out there, always you making new joint venture connections, always be getting new people on your list and always have new sources or traffic.

The final membership mistake is a flaw in the membership site itself. Did you choose the wrong niche? Did you choose a niche such as coupons or people are just not willing to pay money to get access to coupons? Did you choose a niche that you are not allowed to do business in such as gambling because of regulations or did you choose a niche that’s not ongoing? For example, to treat someone’s yeast infection – once they’ve solved that problem, no one’s going to want to pay a monthly fee to get more training. The problem has been solved.

A better membership might be the guitar niche. You can always get more guitar instruction and there are always new songs to learn, new techniques to learn, new types of guitars to learn, new equipment to learn. That’s an example of a great niche that’s always ongoing.

I hope that helped you today to avoid the most common membership mistakes that occur over and over again – pricing too low, not marketing enough and choosing the wrong niche.

Strategies To Get Your Membership Site Noticed Fast

If you want to make money with your membership site, you have to get it noticed. The faster the word gets out, the faster you’ll begin making money. Here are five strategies to get you noticed faster than a streaker at a soccer game.

Provide Free Information. This is a superior strategy to get folks to your web site, however you have a fine line to walk. Too much free info and there’s no benefit to joining your site. Not enough and you don’t give potential members enough of a complimentary preview.

Of course, if you don’t offer quality information then you’ll lose potential members anyway. So make sure that the information you offer is fantastic. You want your free information to be so good that visitors pass it along to others.

Give folks a peek inside with a free trial membership. Trial memberships hook readers! Not only do they instill confidence, once customers get an inside look at all that you have to offer they will want to sign up immediately. Consider also, making certain items on your website available only to ‘permanent subscribers.’ This type of feature works as a tease. Of course, don’t overdo it. You want trial members to be able to access a lot of your site.

Viral Marketing Miracles. Give free reports and even ebooks to affiliates to give away. This report will include the affiliate’s unique ID and any sales made through that report will be credited to the affiliate. It’s a great way to get people to spread the word about your membership site.

Remember that if you want to drive traffic to your site, the ebooks and reports that you give away MUST be excellent.

Article Marketing Mania. Article directories are a wonderful way to drive traffic to your membership site. They help to establish your credibility and they give potential subscribers a peek inside the offerings at your site. Also use article marketing to help build a top notch opt-in list. Always include a link back to your website or sales page.

Fabulous Forums, blogs, and chat rooms. Forums, chat rooms, and blog posts are a good way to get the word out quickly about your membership site. Most forums, chat rooms, and even blogs will allow you to place a link back to your website in your signature link. Consider that many of the people you speak to in these venues may not be ready to purchase but they will be a good resource in the future – if you collect their information.

What Price Should I Charge For My Membership Site?

Most people who run membership sites price their access way too low and that is a big mistake. You need to price your membership site at a point where there is resistance, where you have to do actually work a little bit to get that sale. And the reason for that is because even when you double your membership price, you usually don’t have to work twice as hard to get that sale.

Imagine if you had a thousand members in a membership site paying $20 a month and you suddenly realized that they would have paid $50 a month. You didn’t have to do any extra work, you just had to change one number and yet you didn’t. So you should be pricing your membership site at the highest price the market will bear. That based the question, “What should you charge for your membership site?”

You should charge at least $197 for live training, at least $97 per month for weekly video training and at least $27 per month for monthly video training. Do you offer live training? If so, do yourself a favor and price at $197 or above. I come across too many people who work so hard and run a live webinars, teleseminars, call-in days, personal critiques and then they’re only charging $47 a month or $97 a month and it’s just terrible.

If you’re doing this kind of a live training course, if it’s monthly, charge $200 a month or higher – always be working to increase your coaching rate. If this is just a fixed-term class like a four week class then charge a flat fee of $200 or higher. And when I say higher, I’m serious – $197 is the bare minimum you should be charging for a live training course because your e-books and your video courses have to be priced a little bit less than that. If you’re coaching’s already priced so low, how are you going to justify pricing your e-books even lower? Please remember your time is valuable, charge $200 or more for live training.

If you’re offering weekly video training, a new lesson every week then you should be charging $97 per month. This means somebody gets four lessons every week and maybe a few reminders which is more than enough to justify a $100 a month. That’s $25 per lesson and whether that $25 covers an hour lesson or a half an hour lesson that is a really good deal.

It’s a little bit lower than the live coaching because you are not presenting these as live webinars. These are videos you recorded for, maybe they’re videos recorded in response to comments on your membership site but there is no live interaction other than the ability to leave comments. So charge $100 at least per month for these weekly videos.

Now, what if we have a smaller membership site? What if we have some short videos or let’s just say one impactful lesson per month? You should be charging a bare minimum of $27 per month. Again, I see people set up membership sites and they’re so scared they only charge $5 or $9 for an entire month’s worth of access and they do it because they don’t believe in their own information.

Do whatever you have to do, just psyche yourself up, get proof, get testimonials, get reviews, get case studies but find a way to justify a higher price because usually you don’t have to do a lot of extra work other than typing in a new number. When pricing your membership site, price $200 or more for live training, $100 per month or more for weekly video training and $30 per month or more for monthly video training.

Now that you know what to price, go here http://www.MembershipCube.com and set up your own membership site and establish your own recurring income today, right now.

What Payment Processor Should I Use For My Membership Sites?

Believe it or not, you can’t simply create a webpage and magically take credit card payments when you want somebody to join your one time or recurring membership site. You have to use an additional service that will take credit card payments for you and tell your membership software that you need to let somebody into your site. But which one should you use? It seems like there are hundreds and there are new payment processors popping up everyday so which one should you use?

I prefer to use PayPal for simple payments, ClickBank for affiliate payments and 1ShoppingCart if I wanted to have a merchant account. Let’s talk about each of the three.

In my opinion, PayPal is one of the easiest payment processors to use because you don’t have to go through a lot of hoops just to get established. You do need to create a PayPal account that people can click a button and either pay you through their PayPal account or enter in their credit card details. PayPal processes the transaction and puts the money into your account. Then it’s up to you to figure out how to get paid if you want to get paid from a check or direct deposit but the money goes through PayPal.

You do not actually have to create a merchant account, they do it for you. You can create a payment plan on a moments notice and you are not restricted about what kind of things you sell. For example, when you create a merchant account you have to establish what type of business you have.

If you want to have a seminar business, you have to say in your merchant account that you are a seminar offline business. Then if you want to take payments for e-books, guess what? You need to create a different merchant account – kind of inconvenient, right? But with PayPal, you simply take payments.

The only flaw with PayPal is that they do not have an affiliate program. For this, I use ClickBank. ClickBank has a built in affiliate program so if you sell something using the ClickBank payment processor, anybody else can sign up as an affiliate, refer people and get paid a commission. The great thing about ClickBank is that they get paid and they pay out affiliates before you even get paid so they deal with all the tax issues that is completely out of your hair.

The only downside of ClickBank is they are very generous with their refund policy. Therefore, I only take some payments on ClickBank, only those when I want to have some affiliate sales.

If your membership business really takes off and you want to have lower fees, more controls and advanced features such as one-click upsells or email lead tagging then I recommend 1ShoppingCart. 1ShoppingCart is great because they combine an autoresponder with a shopping cart so you can run basically your whole business from one central location.

That’s the payment processor you should use for your membership site. Just starting off, use PayPal for your membership site. If you want to have an affiliate program then create a ClickBank account as well and in the future if your business really takes off, use the 1ShoppingCart service.

Now that you know how to take payments, let’s go set up the rest of your membership site at http://www.MembershipCube.com

Discover the #1 Secret to starting a paid membership site in under an hour.  Check out this FREE report that tells you the best software to use…  HOW TO CREATE A MEMBERSHIP WEBSITE

Start a Paid Membership Site in Under an Hour

Yes, it is possible to set up your entire membership site in under one hour. I’ve done it a number of times! And you can, too. You just have to be sure to use the right membership software and then decide on your membership model. And remember, you don’t have to fill your site with content when you start; you just have to stay one month ahead of your oldest members.

If you are starting your first paid membership site, then consider starting small. So many people with awesome ideas get scared off before they start by the idea of having to create loads of content each week or month forever. The never-endingness of it all just seems like too much. But you don’t have to spend days (or weeks or months) to create a membership site that goes on and on. In fact, it’s probably better – and more profitable – if you don’t.

The industry average for length of membership of a typical member is 3 to 4 months. That means that even if you have a membership website that has 24 months of content, your average customer won’t ever get beyond month 4. You may have some fanatical fans who join and pay you forever, but most of your members will quit around month 3 or 4, with some stopping their membership before that time, and a few sticking around longer. It’s just the way it is…

So instead of starting a paid membership site that will add new content every month with no end in sight, plan to set up a smaller, focused site. Do you have a product you deliver digitally? Great! Put it inside a membership site. Perhaps you have a series of lessons you teach on a topic. That’s another great membership site right there. Instead of getting access to all of the content when they log in (like your digital download site), they get content dripped to them over a few weeks or months.

When it takes you under an hour to set up your site, including adding your initial content, it’s no big deal to use membership sites in many ways in your business. We set up a membership site routinely behind most of our product opt-in and sales pages now, and deliver the related products from there. Our sites are all set up on WordPress blogs, so they are super simple to create and it’s very easy to add content to them as needed. Then we add a membership software solution on top of that WordPress blog that works seamlessly with it to manage our memberships. And we can do it all in under one hour, from buying the domain name to installing WordPress and setting it up, installing the membership software, and loading our first content.

And remember that when you start a paid membership site, you only have to stay one month ahead of your oldest member. Don’t wait until you have every piece of content loaded before you start to get members. Just put your initial content on your site, and then you are open for business! Start a Paid Membership Site Without Being an Expert

More and more online marketers want to start a paid membership site to bring in passive, residual income each month, but they don’t consider themselves to be an expert. While it’s very likely that you do have expert knowledge in some area that people will pay for, you don’t have to be an expert to have a successful membership site.

A popular model that lots of people are using when they start a paid membership site is the Publisher model. When you set up your membership site using this model, you don’t have to be an expert. In fact, you don’t even have to know much about the topic at all! You just have to find a person or two who has lots of information about the topic and then let them tell you what they know.

This model is very commonly used in the offline world. Any time someone interviews another person or publishes an article written by someone else in their magazine or newsletter, they are using the Publisher model. And the more you interview people on a topic, the more you will become known for providing good information in that market as well. It’s like becoming an authority in a niche by association! And if you focus on one or two niches, the chances are that over time, as you do your research and talk with experts, you will also become very knowledgeable on the subject.

When you think about starting a paid membership site online using this model, you will want to choose a subject that is popular and people want to learn about. Are they already paying for information on this topic? That’s great! That means that there isn’t a ton of free information readily available, and you will have more chance that they will be willing to pay you for expert information.

While it isn’t a requirement, it’s also good if you have some interest in the topic yourself. When you start a paid membership site, people will expect an ongoing flow of new information. If you pick a topic you could care less about just because you think it will sell, it’ll be very hard to keep doing the research and interviews necessary to keep your members happy. Plus, if you do live interviews, your questions will be better and you will sound more enthusiastic about the topic if you are genuinely interested. This will keep your members more interested and enthusiastic, too, and they will be more likely to continue to pay you for the information you are providing.

Remember that one reason you want to start a paid membership site is to create ongoing residual income without having to do a whole lot more work. I invite you to visit http://BestMembershipSolution.com and download a free Special Report on Membership Sites Made Easy! to learn about the 10 most profitable models to use for your membership sites.

Starting a Membership Site

You will want a membership site that attracts members because of the information or products they receive and who in turn will introduce their friends to your site. Try and think out of the box so that your site will be unique. The loyalty of members can later on be rewarded with some token of appreciation, which will make them feel special and enjoy hanging around your site for much longer.

Starting a membership website takes a lot of fore thought before you actually begin to create it.

  • Think it through thoroughly in terms of what your aim is with this site, and be creative in your thinking about what kind of membership website you want.
  • Free gifts and free trials, are always a fantastic way of introducing browsers to your site, to the advantages of membership. The free gift will make them return to the site and they will then be ready to sign up as a paying member. If they find what they want on your site you will have created a loyal member.
  • Maintaining your site in order keep it interesting and fresh for your members is very important.
  • One of the ways of doing this is by frequently placing interesting, informative articles containing information that they will not get anywhere else, on your site.
  • These articles must be well written with the points clearly marked to make reading easy. If you are not able to do this yourself you will find it well worth the expense of hiring a professional writer to do it for you. Your members will come back to read these informative articles again and again.
  • Remember that you are selling your website to your browsers. Make them want to hang around so make their first impression of your site a good one, by having a tastefully designed website. You only get one chance to make a first impression so use it to your best advantage. You must make people want to become a paid member of your website. Make your site is easy to navigate so that the potential members will find their way around with ease. Make it pleasing to the eye without being overbearing.

How to Start a Membership Site – First Steps in Making Your Subscription Website

Membership website, which is also known as subscription website, or members-only website are great opportunities to make money online with your expertise. These days, access to information, especially those that are highly specialized can be great ways to make money online.

If you are an expert on something, such as playing a musical instrument or you are an expert and knowledgeable in a certain topic, you can actually share them online and make money from it through membership websites. You allow people to sign in, pay a minimal fee and then you let them access important information and tutorial tools that can help them learn as well.

Learning how to start a membership site can be relatively simple. You don’t have to do all the dirty work yourself. Membership websites are also great ways to make extra money online. The more valuable and useful information your share online, the more profit you can gain from membership fees. For the first steps in how to start a membership site, here are some steps that you might find useful.

1. Choose a topic that you want to share for a fee. Assess your expertise. If you already have your expertise, it will not be difficult to decide on this one, but keep in mind that you have to choose a topic that is also profitable and something that most people will be looking for online. This way, you will have a larger target audience, more potential members and a larger potential income as well.

2. Design your website. Design your website professionally. You can hire someone to do this job for you to save time and effort as well. Make sure you have a professional template or at least, something that represents your website’s topic. Consider having a website that is easy to navigate as well. Do not disappoint your members by having a website that is quite difficult to navigate. It will also help a lot if you offer tutorials and “How To’s” on how to use the site especially if you have specialized tools for them to use.

3. Add content. One of the bulk of your time in purring up your website is adding content to your site. Keep in mind that even before opening your site to the online world, you have to make sure that you have enough content already for your members. Keep in mind that your content should always be fresh and updated regularly.

4. Set up your payment system. You can choose to accept credit card payments or other means of online payment and set this up before you even start promoting your site.

5. Market your membership site. Of course, you have to also promote your site and invite online readers to your site. One way to help you promote your website without having to exert much effort in its promotion is to do an affiliate marketing program. Affiliates will be promoting your website and you pay for commissions every time they make a referral. This marketing strategy may work well for you as this method is less tedious on your part.

Creating Membership Sites – 3 Myths of Membership Site Creation Debunked!

As with any information product, there are many myths that surround the membership site creation process. The end result seems completely out of reach of the normal coach, consultant or small business owner. Yet, creating a membership program can be done in a simple, yet comprehensive fashion. Here are three myths that keep cropping up in discussions with prospective membership site owners and the truth behind them.

MYTH #1: “The technical aspects are way beyond me.”
The truth is, you don’t have to know HTML or CSS or PHP (or even what those acronyms mean) to create a membership program. Membership sites can be built on many different platforms, and many sites are very simple indeed. Frequently, once the site is set up it’s just a matter of writing a new blog post to keep the the content updated. And you don’t even have to do that! There are several services that offer membership management – or even website management that can handle all the tech-y stuff for you.

MYTH #2: “I couldn’t keep up with the content.”
There are many types of membership sites and not all of them require you to be constantly adding information to the site. For instance, if you have a class that you regularly teach live, you can offer the recordings as a home study course and use the membership site platform to deliver the class. Once the site is set up, students can pay and register for the class, work through the material, and be done! All with little or no input from you. And it’s evergreen too! If you choose to go the “traditional” route, and are worried about writing lots of content, you can always record what you want to say and have someone transcribe it for you. Instant content!

MYTH #3: “I can tweet up a storm, but add content to a web site?”
If you can tweet, post on Facebook or your blog, then you can update your membership site quickly and easily. A very popular platform for creating membership programs is WordPress. WordPress is super simple to add content too! It’s just like writing an email. To add audio and video to your membership site is super simple; if you are using WordPress, there are some great plugins available that make adding content a breeze!

Bonus Myth: “The cost is just too much.”
Having a membership program is very cost effective. Depending on the platform you choose, the cost can vary from free to $100 or so. Of course, you can spend thousands of dollars if you’d like! But why when you can use those funds somewhere else?
